
A wise health insurance plan will keep not only the finances of the individual shipshape but it will benefit the nation in the long run. Many have opined that one of the prime causes of people being unable to be current on their mortgages was because of health insurance plans having gone haywire.
Employers will soon be flooding employees with brochures and e-mail messages about the various options for the forthcoming year. The individual will have to decide about changing over to a fresh plan or enroll in spending account that is flexible. Another option is taking the biometric test companies have been urging.
Experts say that it is better not to default on any option because the costs of health insurance are going to go up and up. By not doing anything could in the long run cost the individual hundreds in dollars.
There is no doubt that this year health insurance premiums are going to spike. This will prompt employers to make the employees to more and more manage their own health and related schemes. Sometimes these promptings may feel like real hard shoves!
The overall picture is that the employers are waiting to see what comes out the hot debate going on in Washington before they actually introduce cost saving measures. But the overall impression is that no matter what the outcome health care, costs will keep on climbing as the tardy economy and weak job market have been dampeners.
In 2008 a good number of employees worried about impending layoffs got into a cycle of health checking frenzy. There was a higher than usual pace of availing of check ups and teeth cleanings. All were apprehensive about vanishing health coverage. This stampede of either use or lose meant higher medical costs for employers. Thus they now decided to pass on to those fortunate enough to be employed opined Joan Smyth of Mercer, a health care consulting firm. The increase will be about 10% for those in HMO or PPO. On top of this many firms will increase deductible by anything from $50 to $100.
There will be change in coverage rules with premiums being raised for working spouses and sometimes total exclusion of spouses and other dependants.
Many of the firms are packaging health care alternatives into one or two carriers leaving not many options to choose from for the employees.
